Camellia sasanqua 'Autumn Sunrise'

The flowers are pure white, cupped, with a wide band of deep red to cherry red around the edges that soon turns white. They have a large cluster of yellow stamens in the center and bloom very early in October. These are some of the first Camellias to flower and they attract many bees and other pollinators. Dr. Clifford Parks bred the Autumn Sunrise Sasanqua Camellia, which is a large, evergreen shrub that grows vigorously and has an upright shape and dark green leaves with a medium texture. Autumn Sunrise is suitable for use as a screen, hedge, or specimen plant. Camellias need a fertile soil that is rich in organic matter, with moderate moisture, and an organic mulch. Sasanqua Camellias thrive in full sun to bright shade.
